Ever marveled at the beautiful vintage embroidered details on pillows, dresser scarves, tea towels and other linens? Join Nantucket artist Bee Shay as she introduces you to the simple pleasures of a time gone by and learn a few simple embroidery stitches that even an inexperienced needle worker can learn in a few short hours.
All skill levels welcome. You will receive a kit that includes; hand dyed wool and variegated floss using natural dyes to make an embroidered needle book, two 100% cotton vintage reproduction blue striped tea towels, wooden embroidery hoop, floss keepers, needles, cotton floss and complete instructions on how to stitch your towels.
In workshop instruction includes: how to transfer a design to fabric, introduction to the types of threads and floss available, ideas for what you can stitch on and stitching instruction for all the stitches that you will need to know to complete your towels and needle book. We will complete the needle book in the workshop and start the first towel before you leave. Also in your kit is a simple stitch dictionary as well as an idea and design booklet for other small projects to work on with the stitches you’ve learned.
