In this hands-on workshop, children will explore how to use island-grown dried and pressed botanicals (flowers and leaves) to create beautiful and unique artwork. Using their new plant press and other tools (included in the class), participants will learn how to properly prepare flowers and leaves for drying. Then, they will create two pieces of botanical art matted and ready for framing.
Instructor Bee Shay is an island resident and artist who has taught botanical art for over thirty years. This class is for children ages 7+ and a parent or caregiver must accompany each child. Parents will get supplies of their own to work with. Everything learned in this class can be replicated at home.
A special thank you to Yates Gas for sponsoring our Children’s Activities.
